Creative Restlessness

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been creatively restless. An appreciation for different disciplines and aesthetic approaches turns one into a chameleon.

I love the immediacy of the Impressionists while also appreciating the jewel-like perfection of the Flemish painters. In the same breath, I’m in love with the entire cartooning tradition from Simplicissimus to the Franco Belgians to Covarrubias and Hirschfeld or the American comic book tradition. Modern animation and childrens books of the 50s to now wouldn’t be the same without the Cubists, Expressionists or Surrealists, who invite us to deconstruct reality and remake it into wonderful surprising new forms. I’ll be adding my restless meanderings here.
